<image:caption>Brianna Shields is an Ontario Certified Teacher and Certified Forest Therapy Guide (Global Institute of Forest Therapy) who has worked in Environmental Education for over a decade. She is passionate about connecting people with their natural environment, and through her outdoor programming began to see the positive physical and mental benefits of spending mindful time in nature. Experiencing this, as well as the healing the natural world can provide after periods of grief, disconnect, or any kind of additional stress, led to her exploring and becoming certified in Forest Therapy. Brianna has a degree in Psychology, and has taken a post graduate certificate in Thanatology (the study of death and dying) to further her work with palliative patients and their families, and be better able to support people experiencing any form of loss. She offers specialized grief and bereavement walks alongside her classic Nature Connection and Forest Therapy walks for individuals, families, and the general public. degrees, certificates, + trainings; psychology, thanatology, teaching, crisis counselling, and forest therapy specialized offerings; - grief and bereavement sessions - youth sessions - individual or private group sessions loves; nature connection, hockey, knit, magic</image:caption>

<image:caption>or Shinrin-Yoku, or Forest Therapy, originated in Japan as a way to help heal a stressed and disconnected population. The idea is to get outside in a mindful way, going slowly and using your senses to help connect you with the space, it’s inhabitants, and yourself. We now have 40 years of research demonstrating the connection between forest bathing and stress reduction, increased attention span, better immune system function, and straight up happiness!</image:caption>

      <image:title>what we do - guided sessions</image:title>
<image:caption>of course you can sink into forest therapy on your own, but we’ve found it can be like an at home workout compared to attending a class - sometimes the motivation isn't the same, you don’t get to experience the energy of the other participants, and you don’t have the expertise of the coach to help you progress! each guided Forest Therapy walk consists of a series of (completely optional!) invitations to do or engage with something, and then having an opportunity to share with your guide/other participants. the focus is not just nature connection, but also individual and community connection. we go s l o w , we use our senses, we take in the little things, and we l e t g o and r e l a x (and then reap the health benefits from doing so!).</image:caption>
